Jason Cochran Racing Recaps 2007, Previews 2008
This year has been a very exciting year for the entire team. It all started back in February, where they headed down to New Smyrna Speedway with a brand new Late Model. Chic-Fil-A came on board as a Primary sponsor for this race. Jason racked up several poles, he also had several Top 5 and Top 10 finishes. He came out finishing 5th in the Speedweeks 2007 Points Championship. Jason then took that success and headed to his home track back in North Carolina, Tri County Motor Speedway. He raced in the track's Late Model Division and Limited Late Model Division. He collected several more Top 10 Finishes. He also raced at the neighboring track Hickory Motor Speedway, he came home both races inside the top 10 again. The JCR Team decided it was time for them to move up another notch on achieving their dreams of one day racing in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series. They purchased a NASCAR Busch East car, and totally redid everything on the car. They debuted at Lime Rock Park, which was a Road Coarse. This was Jason's first race on a road coarse and let a lone in this higher up series. He started the race 29th and by the end of the race he had already worked his way up to the 19th place. Next the team traveled to Mansfield Motorsports Park, which was a ½ mile high banked oval. He started this race 27th and avoided a couple big wrecks and finished this race in the 16th place. After this race the team was learning a lot about these cars and tracks, they decided they would go to the bigger track with the series, New Hampshire International Speedway. Jason had a successful practice session up there. He started the race in the 38th place and cut a tire down and the car went crashing in the turn 1 wall. This ended his day after a lot of the suspension components were destroyed. The team is working on plans for next year. They will be returning with the NASCAR Grand National East Series (formerly known as NASCAR Busch East Series). They are gunning for the coveted "Rookie of The Year" Award. They are also working on scheduling a couple NASCAR Nationwide Series Races. The tracks will be announced later that they plan on running. So its definitely going to be another exciting and busy year for the team. They are in the works of searching for Sponsors and Crew members for next year, so if you may be interested please feel free to contact them and let them know you want your company advertised nationwide on Televison. Stay tuned during the next couple weeks for more exciting news to follow. Until then Thanks and God Bless. |
