Dumarey Hangs On For Top-15 Finish At Adirondack

Beaver Falls, NY (July 27, 2008): Max Dumarey battled the tight confines of the ½-mile Adirondack Speedway Saturday night, and held on to finish The Edge 150 in 13th place. Dumarey’s #16 BODYCOACH.NET Chevrolet was tight in the early running, but the close quarters and high speeds resulted in the kind of shoving and rubbing characteristic of short track racing.

“We were trying to move up, but some guys were just driving over their heads,” said Dumarey. “We had a lot of close calls out there tonight, and I came as close to wrecking without doing so as I ever have. Overall, to come out of here with a 13th place finish and a car in one piece is respectable.”

Dumarey began the day on a high note when he posted a qualifying lap of 107.194 mph to earn the 12th position in the starting line-up.

“We were really happy with our qualifying effort,” Dumarey said. “We picked up a lot from our practice times, and I have to credit this Fadden Racing team for that. They worked hard to help me adjust to this track and give me a solid car to compete with.”

Only 18 laps got in the books before rain started falling and NASCAR red flagged the event. Dumarey went to the tail end of the field after opting to pit for a chassis adjustment once the red flag was lifted.

By the halfway mark, Dumarey had moved up from the back of the pack and began pressuring the 39 of Dustin Delaney for the 16th position. The 8 car took advantage of their battle and used the outside groove to go by Dumarey. He lost three more positions to aggressive driving over the next several laps.

The latter part of the race was caution plagued, but the yellows proved to be beneficial for Dumarey, who drove from 19th to 13th in the final 25 laps of the race.

“There was no respect for anybody out there tonight, and that really takes the fun out of racing,” said Dumarey. “This place is tight and I understand that you’re going to contact and you’re going to bump, but it was just crazy out there tonight.”

Dumarey will enjoy a well-deserved two week break before heading to Lime Rock Park, a short-track road course. Dumarey’s background in Europe make him a favorite heading into the final road course event of the year.

“We’re all pretty excited about going to Lime Rock,” said Dumarey. “I got the lead last year and had some mechanical issues so I’m anxious to get back there and try to win it. I feel we have a good chance at it.”
